Welcoming the Winter Solstice
Today is the shortest day of the year, otherwise known as the Winter Solstice. On December 21, 2018 at precisely 4:23 CST, we welcome the Winter Solstice. While this is the shortest day of the year, it also means that our light can only increase. What a wonderful time of the year!
As we celebrate the holidays together with family and friends, let us remember the joys of our fine feathered friends. Here is a magnificent barred owl for your viewing pleasure. A beauty to behold.
I photographed this barred owl in my own backyard! It was during the day, and he held perfectly still for a number of photos. Photographer’s Tips: Take photos from different angles.. go low and go high. Also, do not limit the number of images. You can always delete. And finally: Get as close as you can to your subject, with minimal distractions. Focus in on your subject. Follow these easy tips, and you will be amazed at what wonderful photos you will have- from your families gathering in your living room, to animals along on your nature walk. Take your best shot! Enjoy the journey.

Happy Winter Solstice! May you have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy New Year, fill to the brim with joy, good health, lots of love and fun adventures!
